Renal Physiology

The projects of the Renal Physiology Laboratory carried out by the staff deal with water and ion transport across epithelia, mainly of the kidney.
 
 

1. Water and ion transport across epithelia, mainly in the kidney. Electrophysiology of epithelia. Water permeabilities and molecular sieving properties of epithelial cell membranes and whole epithelia. Biophysical characterization of the water channels and pathways.

2. Cell volume Regulation.

3. Organ preservation for transplantation.

4. Study of membrane receptors. Relationships among the different intracelular pathways.
